Brent Williams
Managing Director
Senior Building Surveyor
& Town Planner
Brent is the founder and Managing Director of BW&A National. Prior to establishing BW&A National in 1994, Brent began his career as an Apprentice Carpenter in 1976. At the completion of the apprenticeship he moved into the Building Inspection field working with Council, becoming qualified as a Building Surveyor/Certifier in 1990. Complimentary to his qualifications as a Building Surveyor, Brent also holds a qualification in Rural and Regional Planning. Adding to his breadth of knowledge, Brent is a current board member of the Building Appeals Board of Victoria and has served since 2013. He also retains a Domestic Builders Licence, giving him practical knowledge of the building industry and an appreciation of it’s on-site demands. Named Victorian Building Surveyor of the Year in 2007, Brent is a well respected industry leader, he understands the needs of his clients, is passionate about continual learning and is an advocate for driving the industry forward as building methods change. Luke Walker

Luke joined BW&A National in 2014, bringing a solid trade background in building that underpins his practical approach to building surveying. Over his time with the organisation, he has developed a comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant Australian Standards. Luke applies this knowledge across a wide range of commercial and residential projects, providing clear, practical, and compliant advice. Luke completed a Diploma of Building Surveying in 2017, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Built Environment (Building Surveying) at the University of South Australia in 2019. He holds registration as a Building Surveyor (Unlimited) and Inspector with the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) 🏉 Collingwood

Nathan Pain

Nathan brings 16 years of combined practical and professional experience across residential and commercial development. He has developed a strong understanding of the building approval process across multiple Australian states. Since joining BW&A National in 2011, Nathan has built extensive knowledge of building legislation and the National Construction Code (NCC), enabling him to effectively assess and manage a wide range of project types. Nathan’s early career as a carpenter and joiner provided a strong practical foundation, supporting his pathway to obtaining registration as a Building Surveyor and informing his considered, solutions-focused approach to compliance and assessment. 🏉 Carlton

Courtney Milward

Operations
Courtney has more than 15 years of experience within the building industry and commenced employment with BW&A National in 2006. In addition to her industry experience, Courtney looks after human resources–related matters within the organisation, supporting staff across a range of employment and administrative functions. She plays a key role in maintaining effective internal processes and supporting the ongoing operation of the business. 🏉 Collingwood

Emma Murfett
Business Manager
Commencing her career with a Tier 1 commercial construction company in Melbourne, Emma transitioned into the high-end residential sector while living abroad in London, bringing a wealth of project management experience to the BW&A team. She takes the lead on our larger development projects, managing the entire process from conception and design development through to on-site delivery. Emma holds a Master of Construction Management from The University of Melbourne and has her sights set on obtaining her own Domestic Builders License in the near future. She is passionate about building strong relationships with the entire project team, which Emma believes is key to delivering an exceptional outcome. 🏉 Richmond

Guy Romeo
Building Surveyor
Guy has over 35 years of experience in the building industry, with extensive knowledge in both the private consultancy and Local Government building control sectors. In addition to his Building Surveying qualifications, he also attained a Graduate Certificate in Environment & Planning. 🏉 Carlton

Monica Ellis
Building Surveyor
Monica joined the BW&A team in 2023 to complete her cadetship, and since then has gone on to complete her Bachelor of Building Surveying and become a registered Building Surveyor with the BPC. Prior to joining BW&A, Monica gained valuable experience working in Local Government. She has a passion for domestic building projects and enjoys working with clients to help bring their plans to life. 🏉 Brisbane

Andrew Alderton
Building Surveyor
Andrew recently joined the team from a trade background with 10+ years working in the construction industry. His experience working on a broad range of projects, as well as his Cert IV in Building and Construction give him a solid understanding of the construction process. Andrew has recently completed the Graduate Diploma of Building Surveying through Uni SA and obtained his registration and a Building Surveyor - Unlimited with the BPC. 🏉 St Kilda

Trent Gebhart
Assistant Building Surveyor
Trent developed an interest in the building industry whilst studying Land Surveying. He approached BW&A National with the intent of doing a few days' work experience, but quickly moved into the role of Cadet Building Surveyor and now Assistant Building Surveyor. He has completed the Graduate Certificate and has recently completed the Graduate Diploma of Building Surveying through Uni SA. Trent has an eye for detail and a strong passion to learn. 🏉 Essendon

Asisstant Building Surveyor
Vicki brings more than 20 years of experience in the building industry, with extensive knowledge across the residential sector. Her passion for the industry began at a young age and has grown into strong expertise in architectural drafting, management, project coordination, and process improvement within residential building. Now part of the team as an Assistant Building Surveyor, Vicki contributes a solid understanding of construction documentation and building processes. Her background supports efficient, accurate, and compliant outcomes across a wide range of residential projects.

Kevin Downey

Kevin is our Building Compliance Manager, bringing over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He has extensive expertise in building compliance across Victoria and is known for his practical, thorough, and solutions-focused approach. 🏉 Carlton

David Williams
Senior Town Planning Officer
David has been with BW&A National since September 2017 and brings a strong understanding of statutory and technical processes to his role. He currently manages a diverse range of technical projects within the office, including planning matters, subdivision management, illegal building works, and specialist consultancy files. David works closely with internal teams, councils, and external stakeholders to ensure matters are progressed efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and requirements. 🏉 Collingwood

Bradley Williams
Business Systems & Marketing Manager
Brad has experience across construction, hospitality management, and content production, bringing a practical, cross-industry perspective to his role. As Business Systems & Marketing Manager, he is responsible for overseeing BW&A National’s marketing, brand, and digital presence, ensuring consistency and clarity across all platforms. He also focuses on improving how the business operates day to day, working across systems, workflows, and internal processes to increase efficiency and reduce friction. Rebekah commenced her career with BW&A National in an administrative role, where she quickly developed a strong interest in the construction industry and a solid understanding of internal processes. Her initiative and aptitude led her to progress into the role of Technical Assistant, where she now plays an integral part in supporting the wider technical team. Rebekah has recently completed her Certificate IV in Building and Construction, further strengthening her technical capability. Rhiannon Winton
Inspection Coordinator
Rhiannon has been with BW&A National since June 2012 and plays a key role within the Mildura office. She coordinates inspection requests and bookings across all projects, manages invoicing, and provides high-level administrative support to the entire BW&A Mildura team. With a strong understanding of internal processes and long-standing experience within the organisation, Rhiannon contributes significantly to ensuring workflows are efficient, deadlines are met, and both staff and clients are supported effectively. 🏉 Collingwood

Julia joined BW&A National with prior administrative experience in the engineering industry. Since joining the team, she has developed a strong interest in the construction industry and has continued to build her knowledge and capability in this area.
